The Assistant Director of People & Culture assists the Director of People & Culture with the direction of all aspects of the People & Culture division, including benefits administration, employee relations, recruitment and retention of staff, communication to staff, career development of staff, wage & hour compliance, training, workers' compensation and legal matters related to hotel employees.
What you will do:
Act as an objective 3rd party in employee counseling, problem solving or conflict situation and communicate to Director of People & Culture any circumstances that may raise legal issues for the hotel.
Identify, analyze and initiate appropriate actions to resolve any unsatisfactory pattern of employee turnover.
Manage the financial issues for the P&C budget including benefits, labor & salary reports and plan cost effective events within the HR budget guidelines.
Conduct regular audits of insurance records, I-9 records, vacation and sick allowances.
Maintain employment files and other records personally and through delegation in a detailed manner on paper and in the HR computer system.
Administer and train employees on behalf of People & Culture including but not limited to Embark, benefits, core and culture standards.
Organize and supervise all employee recreation programs, including holiday parties, children's party, general meetings etc.
Respond to and attend any related hearings for all employee claims against the hotel including EEOC, NLRB, Workers' Compensation, Unemployment and Wage & Hour.
Actively support the Safety Committee.
Ensure that the cafeteria, employee entrance and lockers rooms are clean and orderly.
What you bring:
Viable candidates must have a minimum of three years' experience in a high-end/upscale luxury Human Resources role.
Requires a general working knowledge of Labor laws.
Requires knowledge of the ability to operate computer equipment.
Ability to read and speak and write English, bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
Above average communication skills - both written and oral - are required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work genuinely to keep employee experience a priority.
This is a seasonal full-time position, required September through January.
While this position generally works Monday through Friday, additional availability may occasionally be required including evenings, holidays and weekends.
