Summit/Portage CountyMonday-Friday While school is in session 8:00-3:00Supporting a healthcare provider$2,000 Sign on Bonus Available (Taxable) Summary:The Medical Assistant role provides clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse. Responsibilities:Actively interfaces with patients and families of Akron Children's HospitalsPrepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by the Providers according to policy and procedureCollects data that contributes to the assessment and evaluation of individualized care and needs of assigned patients, including discharge plans, under the direction of the Licensed NurseCollects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens in accordance with policy and procedureCommunicates patient findings and pertinent information to the Provider and/or Licensed Nurse utilizing appropriate communication/documentation processesAccurate and timely documentation of care within the school medical recordPerforms clinical duties that are department specific such as POCT, hearing and vision screenings, and any other proceduresPerform routine task and general office duties such as faxing, copying, filing, etc. as neededCleans, stocks, and prepares examination roomsDevelops and maintains positive relationships with patients/students, families, school personnel and colleaguesCompletes all assignments during scheduled working hoursFollows safety policies and procedures in the delivery of care to assure a safe environment for patients, families, and other staff membersOther duties assigned Other information:Technical ExpertiseKnowledge of and experience in medical terminology is requiredExperience working in healthcare environment is preferredExperience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is requiredExperience working in electronic medical record (i.e., EPIC) or similar software is preferredEducation and ExperienceEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent is requiredCompletion of an approved (valid) Medical Assistant Certificate Program (MA), EMT Program, or Paramedic Program is required. Those hired into School Health prior to March of 2023 without completion of one (1) of these programs but has relevant years of experience will be given credit for their experience in lieu of the program requirement(s).Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association is required.Credential/Certification: Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA or R.M.A.)Years of relevant experience: no experience requiredYears of experience supervising: None Part Time FTE: 0.600000Status: Onsite
