We are currently seeking a Director of Sales, Target who will continue to build a deep growth partnership with this vitally important customer. The ideal candidate will bring leadership, strategic thinking and collaborative energy to lead our customer AOP both internally and with Target. You must have a passion to work in a highly dynamic, fast growing, and entrepreneurial environment. You will be highly self-directed, ensuring the goals of Duke Cannon and Target are closely aligned and we continue our deep customer partnership. This role reports directly to the Senior VP of Sales and will work closely with the Product Development team, Sales Operations, Marketing as well as Finance.
The ideal candidate has experience in progressive key account roles with recent and deep experience leading a sizeable Target business. Depth of understanding on building multi-category growth plans that leans on experience with category management, insights, digital and innovation is also important. You must have a track record that demonstrates strong business acumen and the ability to think critically and problem solve while leading a CX team to deliver the plan.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own all aspects of Target account management, including growth plan, innovation presentations, assortment planning, promotion, merchandising and shopper marketing plans, and day-to-day management.
- Lead annual Growth Summit process for Target.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key Target personnel (e.g., buyers, planners, analysts, etc.).
- Deliver distribution, shelf management, pricing and promotional objectives for Target.
- Manage external broker partners, internal partners and resources to accomplish sales and distribution objectives.
- Partner with team to execute vendor and item set up forms and promotional and merchandising programs in Target systems.
- Design and implement Target in store and digital promotional plans to maximize incremental sales through effective trade investments.
- Manage the P&L / financial records including sales, forecast, promotional calendar and expenses, negotiated deals and terms, and profitability.
- Advise and support the Sales forecast to enable Demand Planning Team to forecast inventory as accurately as possible.
- Minimum ten years of CPG experience calling on major retailers and buying teams, with at least three years' experience working with Target. This includes a strong experience and understanding of promotional and merchandise planning, broker partnerships as well as buyer relationship development. Preference for experience in Men's Personal Care or Women's Beauty categories.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Sales or related field or equivalent experience
- Strong Business Intelligence: Strong Excel skills and ability to perform a variety of Excel functions as well as analyzing data to influence decisions.
- Category Leadership: Comprehensive understanding of category dynamics, competitive sets, national brands and emerging brands and how to deliver this information in a simple and digestible manner. Creative thinker with the ability to tell a story with data.
- Project Management: Leading projects from beginning to end across internal functions and with customers. Develop and manage scope, timeline, work plan and deliverables for projects; manage incoming project requests and maintain project queue.
- Intellectual Curiosity: Bring creative thought and new thinking to the table, including ideas on how to improve our systems and processes, find new ways of optimizing investments, and drive revenue.
- Communication and Interpersonal: Strong written and verbal communication, ability to connect interpersonally

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Duke Cannon offers a competitive market salary and bonus based on role and professional experience. The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $180,000. Our benefits are top-notch and include health & dental insurance, HSA and 401k programs supported by regular company contributions, a tuition reimbursement program, and monthly parking stipend.
