Job Overview
The Sales Director, Communications and Software, is responsible for achieving overall sales goals and growing the installed base of Hubbell's technology products and services designed to secure, operate, and optimize the electrical distribution grid within the assigned territory. Utilizing both direct and indirect sales approaches, the Sales Director leads customer engagement across multiple product lines and develops strategies to assess customer needs, develop solutions, gather market intelligence, and win new business.
Candidate must reside in the states of WI, IL, IN, MO, or KY.
A Day In The Life Marketing:
Understand regional, state, and national market dynamics to promote Hubbell as a leader in electrical grid automation.
Develop and maintain a network of contacts within utility management, project teams, channel partners, and industry stakeholders.
Identify opportunities to grow business with new and existing customers.
Advocate for funding mechanisms to expand market opportunities.
Lead analysis of accounts and develop sales and engagement strategies to grow Hubbell's installed base.
Assess competitors and develop differentiated market approaches.
Lead implementation of marketing campaigns and communicate market intelligence.
Contribute to product development and gather Voice of the Customer insights.
Lead market research and ensure proper flow of market trends and technical differences.
Sales Activities:
Achieve sales targets and growth plans by analyzing the territory and customer base.
Implement sales programs and conduct product presentations.
Provide technical solutions and overcome objections.
Collaborate with teams to prepare proposals and manage customer information in CRM.
Control sales expenses and maintain budgets.
Sales Channel Management:
Evaluate, establish, and maintain a network of independent sales agents/distributors.
Support and supervise agents/distributors within the territory.
Coordinate project activities and develop sales quotas.
Attend industry trade shows and coordinate customer meetings.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, the candidate must meet the following requirements:
Bachelor's in Engineering (Electrical preferred) or a two-year degree with 15+ years industry experience.
5-10 years in power generation, transmission, distribution, and related communication/software systems.
3-5 years in sales, product management, or related roles.
Experience supervising independent sales agents/distributors preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of Hubbell and competitor products and their applications.
Understanding of utility back-office integrations.
Knowledge of electrical standards such as UL, IEC, ANSI, IEEE, CE.
Ability to write technical papers and use MS Office tools.
Language Skills:
Ability to interpret technical journals, reports, and legal documents.
Effective communication skills for various audiences.
Physical Demands:
Travel up to 50% via air or land.
Reside in WI, IL, IN, MO, or KY.
