Purpose of Position
The Safety Training Director is responsible for developing and overseeing the delivery of all non-pilot safety training programs across the organization, supporting the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), regulatory compliance, and just culture initiatives. This role leads the integration of safety principles into all operational training efforts for dispatch, maintenance, scheduling, and flight support teams, and ensures alignment with internal risk management strategies and FAA expectations. The Director collaborates cross-functionally with Training, Safety, and Operational leadership to ensure all employees are equipped with the knowledge, awareness, and decision-making tools required to operate safely and effectively.
Tasks And Responsibilities
Design, implement, and oversee the safety training program strategy for non-pilot roles, including dispatchers, maintenance, international trip planners, schedulers, and vendor-facing personnel.
Deliver or coordinate training in SMS principles, voluntary reporting systems, human factors, fatigue management, emergency response procedures, and regulatory compliance.
Ensure all safety training content aligns with FAA Part 5 (SMS), ICAO standards, OSHA, and company-specific risk mitigation objectives.
Partner with the Directors of Operational & Maintenance Training and Courseware to integrate safety topics into department-specific initial and recurrent training.
Collaborate with the Safety department to incorporate trend data, incident findings, and safety investigations into actionable training content.
Lead safety training for new hire onboarding, recurrent programs, safety standdowns, and special campaigns.
Oversee qualification and coaching for instructors or facilitators delivering safety content.
Serve as subject matter expert for internal and external audits related to safety training delivery and documentation.
Monitor training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and safety performance indicators, using results to support continuous improvement.
Ensure training initiatives support a positive safety culture and just culture principles across all levels of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Other (KSAOs)
Minimum of 8 years of experience in aviation safety, training delivery, or safety program management.
Working knowledge of FAA Part 135 operations, FAA Part 5 (SMS), and related training mandates.
Strong facilitation and communication skills, with ability to deliver impactful safety training across technical and non-technical teams.
Experience designing or delivering content in human factors, emergency procedures, hazard identification, and voluntary reporting.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence organizational safety culture through training and engagement.
