The Resident Care Director (RCD) serves as the nursing clinical leader for the community and is responsible to lead and manage health and wellness along with coordination of care and services to residents within the community. Job Details Community: Sunrise of East Brunswick | Job ID: 2025-232566 Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership for resident care in the community by managing, directing, and monitoring the nursing team in accordance with state/provincial law to promote resident health and wellness. Provide clinical care through the nursing process, including resident assessments, progress notes, ISP development, and evaluation of resident outcomes; delegate hands-on care as indicated. Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinical providers to coordinate resident care and services. Serve as the CLIA Director as applicable for the community according to federal and provincial requirements. Partner with Neighborhood Coordinators to promote an integrated wellness and resident care approach. Collaborate with Sales partners to determine community capability and assess potential residents for move-in. Medication Management Provide strategic leadership for the medication care managers, ensuring compliance with state/provincial law to promote resident safety. Oversee the community medication management program, including onboarding, training, and performance reviews. Provide clinical training and education to nurses, medication care managers, care managers, and others; perform skill evaluations to ensure clinical capability. Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Track, trend, and report clinical quality data to identify risk. Participate actively in the community Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement committee. Lead clinical quality and process improvement initiatives to mitigate risk and improve outcomes. Recruit, hire, train, and manage performance of clinical team members; handle staffing and scheduling per budget guidelines. Partner with the leadership team to promote resident safety and regulatory compliance (risk management, infection control, occupational health and safety). Serve as ICC and CLIA Director as applicable; oversee infection control programming per provincial requirements. Ensure compliance with Federal, state/provincial, nursing board, and other regulations. Financial Management Manage department budget, including labor and other expenses, understanding impact on the community’s bottom line. Process and submit monthly expenses and budget data per Sunrise policies and controls. Training, Leadership and Team Development Collaborate with Regional Director of Resident Care and/or Executive Director on Sunrise University training and self-study programs. On-board new RCD leaders and other department coordinators as needed. Develop knowledge of state/provincial regulations and ensure compliance through supervision and coaching. Schedule clinical team members per operational and budget guidelines; hold team accountable and document actions. Attend regular meetings (Stand Up, Cross Over, Department Head, Town Hall, QAPI, etc.). Stay current with professional development through reading, conferences, and training; maintain required training compliance. Perform other duties as assigned. Critical thinking, clinical judgment, and decision-making skills. Experience and Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program and current RN license (state/provincial). Minimum two years of RN experience, with at least one year in home health, assisted living, or long-term care (preferred). Minimum one year of nursing management experience (hiring, coaching, performance management, scheduling, operations supervision). CPR and First Aid certification. Knowledge of nursing practices per regulatory requirements; infection control knowledge; data tracking/analysis skills preferred. Experience in quality improvement, risk assessment, staff development, training, and clinical education preferred. Computer proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office; ability to learn new applications. Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours; 24/7 on-call responsibility.
