The University of Florida Department of Psychiatry is seeking a motivated and dynamic Associate or Full Professor for a full-time (1.0 FTE), tenure or non-tenure accruing position as Residency Program Director . The Program Director will oversee the ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program, which includes approximately residents, with plans to expand to in the next few years, involved in the care of patients across all psychiatry and subspecialty areas.
The Residency Program Director (RPD) has full responsibility, authority, and accountability for program administration and operations; teaching and scholarly activity; resident recruitment and selection; evaluation, promotion, and discipline; supervision; and faculty development. The RPD is charged with developing and maintaining a training plan aligned with ACGME Common and Program-Specific Requirements and ensuring that all aspects of the program meet accreditation standards.
Key responsibilities include: Assigning clinical rotations to ensure appropriate supervision and progressive responsibility.
Leading the annual program review process with the Program Evaluation Committee.
Evaluating the quality of clinical teaching units and didactic curriculum.
Supporting resident career planning and counseling.
Overseeing candidate selection in alignment with GME Committee policies.
Assessing resident performance and providing post-graduate training verification.
Supervising associate program directors, faculty, and staff.
Ensuring compliance with all institutional, accrediting, and regulatory requirements. The RPD will receive a minimum of 0. FTE for administrative (non-clinical) program duties. The remainder of the time will be devoted to clinical care, including direct patient care and clinical teaching, with time allocated for research as appropriate for funded investigators. Prior experience working with residents and medical students is required. Cross-departmental collaboration and participation in interdisciplinary research are strongly encouraged.
Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry collaborate across the university and with national partners, offering rich opportunities for scholarly work and career development. There is also potential for leadership in developing specialized inpatient and outpatient services. As a member of the College of Medicine faculty, the successful candidate will contribute to the educational mission through teaching psychiatry residents, fellows, and medical students in both clinical and didactic settings.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to service at the departmental, college, and professional levels and actively support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
This position reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry. Expected Salary: Commensurate with education and experience Required Qualifications: Applicants must have a M.D. or D.O. (or equivalent) and be Board certification in Psychiatry (ABPN or AOBNP). Must be eligible for Florida medical licensure and UF Health medical staff appointment. Preferred: Prior teaching experience in a clinical, academic, or administrative role

Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida are involved in a broad range of clinical and research initiatives through departmental centers, labs, and interdisciplinary collaborations. The department includes a large outpatient center with various specialty clinics, including one affiliated with the Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment—along with an active inpatient service, a psychiatry collaborative program for primary care providers, school-based consultation programs, and community mental health consultation services.
The department offers clinical services and training in adult, child and adolescent, and addiction psychiatry.
