DermaBlue is seeking a board-certified dermatologist to serve as  Medical Director  and provide  clinical supervision and oversight  for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) delivering general and cosmetic dermatology care. The Medical Director will champion evidence-based practices, ensure quality standards, and foster a collaborative clinical environment that enhances patient care and supports professional development for APPs.
Key Responsibilities: Clinical Supervision & Oversight Provide direct supervision of nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs), including case review, performance feedback, and clinical mentoring. Conduct monthly chart reviews in accordance with North Carolina Medical Board (NCMB) requirements for APP supervision. Be available for real-time consultation and guidance on complex cases via phone, telehealth, or in-person as needed. Approve treatment protocols and cosmetic procedures performed by APPs (e.g., Botox, fillers, laser treatments, acne protocols). Ensure all services provided by APPs align with current dermatologic standards of care and patient safety guidelines. Medical Leadership Lead monthly clinical team meetings to review challenging cases, clinical updates, and protocol enhancements. Participate in quality assurance initiatives and peer reviews. Oversee and update clinical guidelines, standing orders, and consent protocols as medical practices and regulations evolve. Serve as the final authority on adverse event management, treatment escalations, and clinical complaints. Training & Professional Development Onboard new APPs with orientation to DermaBlue’s protocols, EMR use, documentation standards, and dermatology procedures. Support continuing education by recommending and facilitating training in dermatologic best practices, new treatments, and cosmetic techniques. Encourage APPs to maintain board certifications and continuing education requirements.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Ensure full compliance with NCMB regulations related to supervision ratios, chart co-signatures, and documentation standards. Collaborate with legal and administrative staff to uphold HIPAA, OSHA, and professional licensure requirements. Review and help update medical malpractice risk policies related to APP services.
Qualifications: MD or DO with board certification in Dermatology Active North Carolina medical license (or eligibility) Minimum of 3 years post-residency dermatology experience; prior APP supervision preferred Proficient in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology Strong communication and mentorship skills
