Overview Lerch Bates is hiring a Regional Managing Director in the Vertical Transportation department. The Regional Managing Director is responsible for consulting services, business development, overseeing office operations, and leading assigned personnel. We are seeking a strong leader with prior experience in the Vertical Transportation Industry. Job Title: Regional Managing Director Department: Vertical Transportation Responsibilities The duties below are illustrations of the work that may be performed and are not intended to prescribe or restrict assignments. Generate a customer pipeline by marketing LB services for all given lines of business in the service area. This may include, but is not limited to, exhibiting at regional conferences, conducting client lunch and learns, visiting potential and current client locations, and writing industry-specific blogs and articles. Participate in all aspects of project development, including bid and contract development, conceptual planning, design, construction administration, maintenance audits, and modernization projects for vertical transportation systems. Assist with active projects to ensure client satisfaction, quality, timeliness of delivery, and timely billing and payment. Assist with the planning, coordination, billing, delivery, and all other activities associated with other business lines in the assigned service area as requested. Provide scheduled and requested reports to business support functions and leadership as requested, including equipment and systems status, percentage of work completed, billing percentages, contract additions, change orders, and deficiency lists. Responsibilities (continued) Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to personnel regarding their service, job skills, job performance, and safety. Document training and feedback provided. Provide leadership and work with staff to create a customer service-oriented work environment that supports the overall corporate mission and values. Monitor local revenue and expenses and participate in the budgeting process. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field (preferred). 5 or more years of experience in the vertical transportation industry. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. Previous supervisory experience of consultant-level employees (preferred). Strong knowledge of the industry, including expert knowledge in one or more areas: elevators, escalators, moving walkways, mid- and/or high-rise building design, specifications, and analysis, or other vertical transportation equipment. Knowledge and adherence to applicable industry ASME codes, standards, and safety rules. Strong project management skills, including the ability to coordinate the design and implementation of systems with the architectural team, building owner, management companies, municipalities, etc., as well as the work and time of self and others. Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong negotiation skills. Deductive reasoning and critical thinking skills. The ability to maintain current knowledge and understanding of industry operational and equipment trends. Physical Demands This role requires regular sitting, talking, and hearing in meetings and by phone. Employees must navigate tight spaces, climb ladders, move around construction sites, take measurements, and travel by car, air, or rail. Duties may involve working at heights and in confined spaces, using hands for tasks like typing and operating elevator components, and applying up to 30 lbs. of force. Close visual attention is also required. Mental Demands This position requires strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Employees must interpret complex information, apply mathematical and logical reasoning, quickly learn new skills, and manage detailed, multitask workloads under shifting deadlines. Regular interaction with executives, colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders is also expected. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug test. The drug test includes screening for marijuana, regardless of state or local laws permitting its use.
