BJC MedicalGroup – Regional Hospitalist Medical Director BJC MedicalGroup is seeking a Regional Hospitalist Medical Director . This leader provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for hospital medicine programs across five distinct markets. The role ensures high‑quality, patient‑centered care, alignment with system goals, and collaboration among interdisciplinary teams to achieve clinical and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a strategic vision for hospital medicine services across assigned markets.
Collaborate with executive leadership (BJCMG and HSO‑specific) to align hospital medicine goals with broader objectives.
Identify opportunities for service line growth, market expansion, and program development.
Oversee integration of innovative care models, including telemedicine and other technologies.
Ensure clinical excellence and adherence to evidence‑based protocols across all sites.
Monitor quality metrics, patient outcomes, and performance standards, driving continuous improvement.
Manage staffing models, provider schedules, recruitment strategies, budgets, and financial performance for hospital medicine programs.
Develop mentorship and professional development opportunities for hospitalists and advanced practice providers.
Track and analyze key performance indicators and deliver regular performance updates to senior leadership.
Build relationships with healthcare providers, hospital administrators, and community partners; represent the hospital medicine service line in system‑level initiatives.
Clinical Oversight
Serve as a resource for complex patient care and clinical decision‑making in partnership with site‑specific medical directors.
Champion patient safety, care standardization, and best practices across the service line.
Operational Management
Collaborate with market leaders and hospital administrators to address operational challenges.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
Team Leadership & Development
Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for providers.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and engagement among teams.
Act as a liaison between hospitalist teams, market leaders, and executive leadership.
Qualifications
5–7 years of hospital medicine experience with at least 3 years in a leadership or administrative role.
Demonstrated success in multi‑site or multi‑market operations, quality improvement, clinical program development, team leadership, and change management.
Experience in graduate medical education programs preferred.
Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to balance clinical and operational responsibilities effectively.
Work Environment Position requires frequent travel between local markets and facilities. The role is 0.8 administrative with the remaining 0.2 clinical FTE spread across different markets.

BJC Medical Group – Physician Role Role purpose: The physician provides professional medical services within the practicing specialty through direct patient care. Responsibilities include inpatient hospital care, patient panel management, documentation, call coverage, education, and collaboration with advanced practice providers and care team members.
Responsibilities
Manage the medical care of patient panel by arranging inpatient hospital care of physician’s patients, either through regular hospital rounds or through coverage arrangements with hospitalist(s).
Collaborate with patients, families, and care team members to ensure excellent patient care outcomes at designated clinic and outreach locations.
Perform and document medical histories and physicals in the patient’s medical record as required by hospital medical staff bylaws.
Provide or arrange for call coverage for clinic patients and inpatient call coverage in accordance with BJC policies, medical staff bylaws, and applicable legal, ethical and professional standards.
Collaborate and teach advanced practice providers, support staff or any care team member assigned to the physician’s patient panel.
Work in a safety‑sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe manner of work.
Minimum Requirements
Doctor of Medicine; board eligible or board certified in the practicing specialty; licensed physician.
Education: Doctor of Medicine.
Experience: Less than 2 years of experience; preferred 2–5 years.
Supervisor Experience: No experience required.
