JOB DESRIPTION: The Regional Director of EMS is a professional representative of Survival Flight, EMS, and is responsible for overseeing the activities of multiple base locations and areas of operation within a set region. The Regional Director of EMS will work closely with the Base Supervisors and Regional Operations Managers at each assigned location to provide guidance and assistance in resolving concerns as they are identified at the base level in a timely and professional manner. When appropriate, this position should be able to delegate specific tasks to meet the goals and objectives of each individual base and the overall goals of Survival Flight EMS, ensuring that the assigned region is performing efficiently and effectively. The director must be very organized with attention to detail, can work independently, and does not require direct supervision to complete the job. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned. • Promotes a positive image of Survival Flight EMS to employees, customers, industry, and communities served by Survival Flight EMS. • Responds to customer/community concerns and trends in customer/community satisfaction, both positive and negative. • As required, actively participates in PR events scheduled within assigned region. • Represents SFEMS by attending appropriate State and/or regional EMS meetings as requested, needed or required. • Represents SFEMS by attending City and/or County governmental meetings in the areas we serve on a regular basis, as requested, needed or required. • Represents SFEMS by participating with any hospital or agency (i.e., OEM) inside the SFEMS contractual areas for items such as trauma committees, disaster preparedness or planning. • Actively and regularly participates in management team functions, policy and procedure development, and business development activities. • As needed, submits updates to the Survival Flight EMS operations manual and policies. • Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, new technologies, and market conditions relevant to this industry. • Works with the Director of EMS to identify and address inefficiencies and possible areas in need of improvement. • Regularly communicates regarding each base status and addresses any problems or potential problems. • When appropriate, collaborate to develop a plan of action to resolve identified concerns. • Coordinates with other departments, such as human resources, finance, billing, quality assurance and education, to ensure successful operations of each base assigned. • Works with the Billing Department and Compliance to remedy systemic issues concerning ePCR submissions. • Works with the QA Department to recognize opportunities for improvement to the system. • Works collaboratively in the assigned region along with the Clinical Leadership Team, Education Team, and Medical Director to identify and correct clinical skill deficits, training deficits, and knowledge deficits. • Attends Management Leadership Team meetings as directed. • Provides leadership to the assigned region. • Whenever possible, attend each base monthly clinical staff meeting. • Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures; meets with entire crew to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale for major changes. • Works to limit crew's overtime accrual through efficient monitoring/ management of work assignments in 9th Brain by providing the master schedule each month to the Operations Manager. • Directly supervises Regional Operations Managers in assigned regions. • Acts as a sounding board, coach, and counselor when addressing staff management issues. • Participate in interviews and hiring new employees for assigned region. • Conducts face-to-face annual performance evaluations for direct reports in assigned region. • Provides review of annual performance evaluations provided by the Operations Managers' direct reports before submission to H.R. • Provides documentation of Employee Action Notices or Performance Improvement Plans with plan of action for correcting any identified behavioral or clinical concerns will be included to Dir of H.R. • Provides review and approval of all Employee Action Notices or Performance Improvement Plans issued by the Operations Manager before submission to H.R. • Works in conjunction with the Director of EMS and the Dir of H.R., to handle discipline and termination of staff in accordance with Survival Flight EMS policy. • Provides documentation to H.R. for new hired employees, employee status changes, and employee doctors' restrictions as given. • Ensures completion of bi-weekly payroll reconciliation within the SFEMS payroll software. • Provides for ordering of narcotics for the assigned region. • Monthly expense reporting of company assigned credit card.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR HIRE:
• Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Prior supervisory experience preferred. • Must be able to travel and have own transportation for required meetings. • Strong managerial and leadership skills. • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and, at times, stressful environment. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to operate a computer/keyboard at least 2- 6 hours per day • Regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand. walk; use hands to fingers; handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. • Ability to conduct activities requiring climbing, stooping, kneeling/bending, and reaching on a limited basis.
