New York Life Real Estate Investors (“REI”) is the real estate investment management division of NYL Investors LLC. REI manages a portfolio in excess of $70 billion which includes real estate debt, real estate equities and real estate securities. The equity portfolio includes assets held in New York Life’s general account, separate accounts, an open-end core fund, closed end value add funds, and co-investments with REIT vehicles.
Opportunity
The role is for a Director within the Strategy and Research Group (SRG) of New York Life (Real Estate) Investments. SRG provides reconnaissance, research, analysis, and interpretation to render opinions, and convey advice and recommendations to the equity, debt, and CMBS investment teams as well as asset, loan, and portfolio management and business development. SRG synthesizes data to create specialized outlooks for investment strategies with a focus on risk mitigation and portfolio diversification. Continuous evaluation of real-time data is integral to the success of our investment strategies. SRG analyzes demographic, economic, geographic, political, fiscal and regulatory data. The group publishes white papers, industry magazine articles, quarterly reports and yearly outlooks. The successful applicant will report to the Head of Strategy and Research.
What You’ll Do
Support efforts to enhance NYLIM’s brand visibility with clients, prospects, and the broader market including client facing meetings and presentations. Contributing to the development of commercial real estate markets perspectives, portfolio strategy, and trade ideas through original research Analyze how macroeconomic trends impact commercial real estate markets Co-author or contribute to white papers, industry articles, quarterly reports, and annual outlooks Chart and table preparation, data research, data retrieval, data modeling, analysis and preparation of internal and external PowerPoints and memoranda are important aspects of the job Participate in the process of pressure testing and socializing key investment convictions Work on special projects
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or Real Estate, with a strong academic record Strong interest in economics and commercial real estate, with 5–10 years of relevant experience Deep understanding of commercial real estate asset classes (office, retail, multifamily, industrial, etc.) Strong analytical, quantitative, research, and problem-solving skills Clear written and verbal communicator, able to craft compelling economic and market narratives Experience conducting research and synthesizing diverse viewpoints into cohesive insights Comfortable communicating and interacting with client audiences Skilled in managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines; highly motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative Knowledge of macroeconomics, investment products (equity, debt, CMBS, fixed income), and real estate markets Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Preferred Skills
Working knowledge of CoStar, MSCI-RCA, CBRE, Green Street, NCREIF, Oxford Economics, and Bloomberg platforms

Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $140,000-$200,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
