Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Reach & Rise Director and YMCA Executive Director, the Reach & Rise Program Director is responsible for oversight and ongoing development and implementation of the YMCA’s Reach & Rise Mentoring Program at a YMCA association. Program Directors are Mental Health Professionals who will establish the Reach & Rise program model by recruiting, training, and matching volunteers, as well as responsible for managing risk. They ensure uniformity of training curriculum, data collection, outcome objectives, and ongoing clinical support. Program Directors receive training in human subjects research, and work with research partners to collect and produce all data related to the child, the family, and the mentoring relationship, in accordance with OJJDP grant requirements. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
The Program Director serves as the clinical mind for the respective association and is supervised by their respective YMCA Executive who assists with messaging, marketing, and brokering linkages to all available YMCA resources (e.g., facilities, human resources, risk management, volunteers, etc.). The Program Director will participate in training provided by the Director.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, or counseling and 3 years of experience working with youth; required.
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, or a related field; .
Two years of experience supervising others; required.
Organization management and program development skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of case management techniques and processes.
Ability to work independently and produce results with minimal supervision.
Excellent conflict resolution skills.
Proven ability to work with people from a variety of different , socioeconomic, educational, , , and backgrounds.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrate knowledge of case management techniques and processes.
Recruit, train, manage, and coordinate volunteers in assigned areas.
Directly supervise the Reach & Rise Group Mentoring Coordinator.
Directly oversee the Reach & Rise 1:1 mentoring program.
Provide input as to how the mentoring program can better reflect the cultural of the children and families in the respective YMCA regions.
Ensure high-quality programs and establish new program activities.
Organize people and activities for efficiency and effectiveness.
Expand the program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
Implement and deliver a program by following a specific program model, curriculum, and guidelines.
Provide accurate, timely completion and submission of all mentor/mentee-related records and documents as per the partnership agreement and as specified by OJJDP.
Demonstrate knowledge of productivity standards and consistently maintain them.
Conduct comprehensive assessments and implement the mentee growth plans, utilizing various intervention methods and techniques.
Organize and attend regular meetings with volunteers, families, and with staff from schools and/or community-based organizations, as needed.
Provide input as to how the mentoring program can better reflect the cultural of the children and families in our region.
Schedule and oversee monthly Youth Advisory Committee meetings and activities.
Foster relationships with local institutions of higher education to support educational opportunities for their students within the program. Provide supervision of practicum student volunteers and complete all necessary documentation for the student’s practicum requirements in a timely manner.
Comply with the legal standards for mandated reporting; assist in appropriate child abuse reporting for the Association; maintain filing of CY47 reports and training staff.
Continue professional development through community involvement, educational coursework, seminars, and conferences as approved. Participate in all required training as required by the YMCA of USA and OJJDP Grant.
Meet regularly with Executive Director to ensure program consistency and validity.
Attend scheduled Staff and Board meetings for both branches.
Possess a professional demeanor, pleasant personality, and a sense of humor.
Actively participate in YMCA events and activities and adheres to the YMCA Core Values.
Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
Work with all YMCA partners to ensure positive and consistent relationships.
Engage in fundraising efforts for the Annual Support Campaign.
Perform other duties as assigned.
