The Quality Improvement Program Director will collaborate closely with Health Plan Quality Leadership to coordinate vital quality improvement and compliance initiatives. This position serves as a crucial liaison among departments within the health plan and the broader organization to foster an interdisciplinary approach aimed at enhancing member outcomes and provider performance. Key responsibilities include the development and ongoing management of clinical quality programs, performance improvement project management utilizing data insights, and leading analysis efforts to monitor key quality metrics (such as HEDIS, CAHPS, and Stars). The role requires proactive identification of improvement opportunities and supplying cross-functional teams with actionable insights.
Please note, some travel may be necessary to engage in community events, including potential weekend commitments. The ideal candidate will be adept at creating presentations and comfortable working with data to effectively communicate findings to physicians, administrators, providers, and community partners.
This is a work-from-home position, but travel to the Honolulu office will be required for meetings, offsite Quality Committee meetings, and state-sponsored events up to 10 percent of the time.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement data-driven strategies that support quality improvement initiatives.
Enhance and maintain reporting systems for HEDIS, Stars, CAHPS, and other quality metrics.
Conduct data analysis to detect trends, gaps, and opportunities for enhancement.
Support quality improvement programs with data analysis, performance tracking, and outcome evaluation.
Oversee all Quality Committees under the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, ensuring all activities are on track and documented.
Act as a liaison with national Quality Committees to relay necessary information to the local plan.
Assist in creating quality management documentation, including the Quality Improvement Program Description and Evaluation, ensuring timely completion and approval.
Develop and revise evaluations to comply with UHC national QMP, NCQA, and state regulations.
Manage QMP policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
Provide project management oversight for HEDIS, CAHPS, PIPs, and other assigned projects.
Conduct performance improvement initiatives and ensure timely submission of reports.
Engage in quality-related audits, ensuring compliance with QMP requirements.
Prepare reports as needed by the State, NCQA, etc.
Conduct effectiveness studies on program activities to assess improved outcomes and the status of objectives.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in the health care sector focused on data analysis and quality improvement.
Proficiency in data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Solid understanding of HEDIS, Stars, CAHPS, and other healthcare quality metrics.
Exemplary communication and project management skills.
Ability to travel about 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of experience with HEDIS, Stars, CAHPS and related healthcare quality metrics.
1+ years of experience in health plans or quality management settings.
Knowledge of regulatory bodies including NCQA.
All remote employees must adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy. Pay for this role ranges from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment, factoring in local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
