Job Description
TheQuality Director is responsible for planning and implementing the hospitals Quality Program to meet organizational needs under the direction of the Corporate Quality Director and approval of the Hospital Governance Committee.
The Quality Director provides education to leadership, medical staff, hospital staff, and the Governing Body. This role facilitates performance improvement activities and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities through the QAPI plan and serves as a resource person to the administrative team, department managers, and medical staff. The Quality Director assists department managers with preparation for committee meetings and regulatory body surveys, including accrediting organization reviews, State Licensing Reviews, and CMS Validation Surveys.
Quality Management:
- Implement the Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan to meet hospital needs
- Educate medical staff, hospital staff, and Governing Body on quality initiatives
- Facilitate performance improvement and CQI activities throughout the hospital
- Provide oversight and support to administrative teams and department managers
- Maintain oversight responsibility for all performance improvement activities
- Drive and manage the Risk Management and Utilization Plan within the QAPI plan
- Ensure readiness for all regulatory body surveys and compliance with standards
Risk Management:
- Identify clinical risks, evaluate situations, and coordinate corrective actions
- Provide interventions and education to promote safe work practices and quality care
- Coordinate risk programs across hospital departments, administration, and legal counsel
- Report real and potential risk situations to the Governing Body, medical staff, administration, and appropriate committees
- Establish and monitor methods to avoid, eliminate, or reduce risk situations in patient care and services
Clinical Staff Education:
- Direct the clinical staff education program for the organization
- Manage operational and educational activities to meet staff and patient needs
- Consult with department directors, staff, physicians, and nursing personnel to assess educational requirements
- Recommend and assist in developing educational policies and procedures
- Serve as a resource person to staff and management for education and training needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
- Current clinical licensure in the State of Practice
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a clinical healthcare or medical industry setting required
- Previous experience in quality or performance improvement activities preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Effective verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions
- Proficiency in PC computers, tablets, and smartphones
- Ability to acclimate easily to changing schedules
- Comfortable using mobile tools and applications
- Demonstrates commitment to exceeding minimum standards and achieving excellence
