Job Details

Prepare detailed cost estimates by reviewing plans, specifications, and performing quantity take-offs for select trades

Evaluate design drawings and fully understand the scope of work for each bid

Manage the end-to-end bidding process, from preparation through closeout

Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure coverage of all scopes of work

Review and analyze subcontractor proposals for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with scope

Present cost and budget information to clients and project teams

Apply value engineering strategies to identify opportunities for cost savings

Assess project risks and develop mitigation strategies

Collaborate with project and construction managers to develop schedules

Participate in contract negotiations to secure favorable terms

Stay current with industry practices through ongoing professional development

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in substation or electrical utilities estimating (strongly )

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Management, Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Proven track record in high-voltage transmission line and substation erection projects

Skilled in preparing accurate budgets, estimates, and competitive bids

Proficiency in value engineering and cost analysis

Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, codes, and legal requirements

Demonstrated risk assessment and mitigation skills

Experience in scheduling, subcontracting, and supplier management

Strong negotiation skills with a history of securing favorable terms

Excellent communication skills to work effectively with vendors, clients, engineers, and contractors

Experience with estimating software and related industry technology
