Location: 875 DISTRICT EDUCATION CENTER Job Title: Project Director Stronger Connections Program Reports to: Assistant Superintendent Date Revised: 8/7/2025 Dept./School: Administration, Brandon Elementary, Lufkin Middle School, Lufkin High School, and any other campus supported by the grant
Primary Purpose: Provides daily oversight of the Stronger Connections grant, including fiscal and personnel management, campus, parent, and community relations, implementation, and evaluations. This position is funded through the 2024-2026 Stronger Connections Grant.
Qualifications: Education/Certification: Master's degree and/or equivalent job-related experience preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills: Strong knowledge of effective project management techniques and strong knowledge of program management techniques; this management includes organizing personnel, physical resources, and activities in relation to defined needs, priorities, and objectives in order to maintain the program's contribution to the total educational program. Knowledge of techniques for partnership development Ability to coordinate functions involving multiple activities and diverse participants Ability to communicate effectively Ability to work as part of a team Ability to make effective presentations Ability to work with students and families of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds
Experience: Two years of successful experience working within the public school system, in teaching, in counseling, in social work, or in a related field preferred Two years of successful experience working with grant-funded mandates preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Oversee day-to-day operations of the Stronger Connections Grant 2. Work closely with district and campus administrators to establish a program plan that will meet the requirements of the Stronger Connections Grant and benefit the recipients thereof 3. Monitor and provide support to each campus identified through the grant by reviewing data and supervising caseload management 4. Coordinate student visits with contracted LPCs 5. Work with campus leadership, staff advisory committee, parents and students to determine current needs and next steps for the Stronger Connections program 6. Work closely with District Behavior Specialist to implement regular social and emotional learning 7. Collect and review data from student attendance, discipline referrals, class removals, behavior threat assessments, and student outcomes; compare results or baseline data 8. Monitor caseloads and student progress based on interventions provided by contracted LPCs 9. Coordinate and provide professional development for staff members on gang violence prevention, bullying prevention, and mental health needs 10. Coordinate and hold meetings for parent, student, and staff advisory committees 11. Coordinate and provide updates to district and campus administrators on the status of student progress, caseloads, and interventions used by contracted LPCs
Customer Care Skills 12. Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff, and other professionals at all times 13. Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly 14. Ensure superior customer care skills are used via body language and an attitude of "going the extra mile" for others 15. Ensure all requests for information are dealt with in an appropriate timeframe 16. Create and maintain a welcoming, service-oriented environment toward all internal and external customers 17. Create and maintain professional relationships with district and campus leadership, staff, parents, students, and the community 18. Bring together people and resources in the home, school, district, and community to support students' optimal academic, career, personal, and social development
Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for supervising any personnel contracted through and/or supported by grant funding
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Computer and peripherals; standard office equipment Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing, occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) Environment: Work is performed in an office setting and on campuses; may require irregular and/or prolonged hours Mental Demands: Must maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions
