Program Management Director

BWXT's mission is to provide safe and effective nuclear solutions for national security, clean energy, environmental remediation, nuclear medicine, and space exploration. We have manufacturing facilities, laboratories, and work sites all across the country. The Program Management Director will support with the manufacturing of heavy components for nuclear reactors that provide propulsion for US Navy aircraft carriers and submarines. This role will be assigned to the BWXT's Nuclear Operations Group - Barberton, OH location (NOG-B).

Responsibilities:

  • Build and develop a high performing team of project managers to execute programs that meet or exceed as-sold requirements.
  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards to develop and manage project plans to effectively execute deliverables, including risk registers, action plans as needed for mitigation, along with constant oversight.
  • Interface with other departments to review and identify potential new work scopes, products or services to ensure compatibility.

Business Operations & Financial Oversight:

  • Own and be accountable for the profit and loss (P&L) for each project; schedule deliverable; customer interface; and liaison with technical, quality and other business partners as needed.
  • Manage the program/project management team and obtain assistance from the functional organizations to ensure performance of all efforts necessary to maximize cash flow and deliver contracted goods and services within quality, cost and targets.
  • Monitor project costs, cash flow, CAI investment charges, schedules, quality and documentation requirements

Client Management & Business Development:

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for program/project management-related matters.
  • Provide project updates to management and customer on a consistent basis regarding strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Ensure a high level of client satisfaction, managing expectations and delivering superior service throughout the project lifecycle.

Program & Project Management:

  • Develop and implement program management best practices, processes, and standards across all projects.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may impact program delivery and provide solutions that keep the projects on track.
  • Direct special projects at the direction of the customer or General Manager.

Team Development & Collaboration:

  • Lead and develop a collaborative team of high performing project managers.
  • Support and promote professional development through training, mentoring, and providing growth opportunities within the team.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Operations and other departments to ensure projects meet schedule milestones.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (ABET accredited) or related field required. Master's degree in engineering, business, or finance is preferred.
  • Certifications: PMP, PGMP, CPM, or similar certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 years of technical experience with 5 years of program/project management experience. Prior experience in ship building, the nuclear industry, or indirect nuclear operations or other high consequence industry experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and developing project teams to strengthen team members' capabilities and skill sets.
  • In-depth working knowledge of project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Proven success working with all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Benefits:

The Program Management Director is eligible to work a 9/80 schedule (having every other Friday off) while receiving market leading pay, paid time off, paid winter holiday shutdown, educational refund benefits, medical, dental, vision and service-based retirement contributions with additional 401k match.

Pay: $132,000 - $203,000

The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $132,000 and $203,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.

Position requires U.S. citizenship with (no dual citizenship) ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
