Unity House is looking for a full-time Program Director to manage a brand-new pizza kitchen that will be designed to teach and empower at-risk youth through career building skills for employment opportunities. Once fully operational this unique opportunity will be open to the public.

Please apply if you have the unique experience of managing or working in a restaurant kitchen environment and one of the following: working with at-risk youth ages 15-24, violence prevention or human services related field. Experience with front of the house will be considered.

Responsibilities:

Assist with start up of the program

Manage daily operations of the kitchen

Ensure all meals are expertly prepared, portioned, and served in strict adherence to nutritional guidelines, food safety regulations, and organizational standards.

Design and coordinate menus.

Oversee inventory management of food, supplies, and equipment

Lead, train, and schedule kitchen staff and volunteers

Foster a collaborative, efficient, and a respectful work environment

Uphold and enforce sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety protocols in compliance with local

health department regulations

Manage and maintain kitchen equipment

Supervise and train Assistant Program Director

Maintain a budget

Collaborate and communicate effectively with other Unity House of Troy staff daily

Build a “restaurant ready” curriculum focused on culinary skills and future job placement

Work with staff and Assistant Program Director to build individualized support plans for staff

Build positive relationships with the surrounding community and law enforcement

Promote an environment of inclusion and belonging

Requirements:

Prior working experience in a restaurant environment and kitchen management experience is required. Minimum 3 years of experience in human services/youth programming, workforce development, or violence prevention. While college degree is not a requirement; an acceptable combination of experience and education will be considered if you have a degree in the related fields mentioned. Evenings and Saturdays maybe required. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent customer service skills is a must! Ability to work independently and as a team. Valid and clean NYS driver license.
