Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Program Director of Behavioral Health Services for a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering integrated behavioral health and substance use disorder programming. This full-time, direct hire, onsite role is based in Chicago, IL .

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Program Director of Behavioral Health Services is a key leadership role overseeing the daily operations and effectiveness of behavioral health and substance use disorder programs. Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer, this position supervises Program Supervisors and supports clinical, administrative, and quality assurance efforts. The Program Director also plays a strategic role in supporting compliance, growth, and collaboration across teams.

PERKS: Competitive salary range of $90,000 - $100,000 annually Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance 403(b) retirement plan with employer match Paid time off and mileage reimbursement for work-related travel Inclusive, supportive team environment focused on community health impact RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise Program Supervisors and provide guidance on day-to-day operational and administrative needs Ensure program compliance with licensing, accreditation, and regulatory standards (CARF, DMH, DHS, etc.) Support the integration of mental health and substance use services and maintain clinical quality standards Track program census, payer mix, and grant requirements to ensure performance targets are met Represent the organization with external stakeholders and support strategic planning initiatives Monitor program budgets, approve expenditures, and assist with staff development and evaluation QUALIFICATIONS: Strong knowledge of behavioral health and substance use treatment models and prevention practices Familiarity with regulatory frameworks including CARF, DMH 132 & 140, ASAM criteria, and DHS standards Experience leading clinical teams with a focus on evidence-based models (CBT, MI, SBIRT) Skilled in program operations, quality improvement, and multi-funding oversight Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or currently pursuing certification, as well as a Master's Degree in Human Services/Social Sciences or similar field

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This role offers a salary of $90,000 to $100,000 , based on experience.
