Position Summary

The Product Owner Chapter Lead is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing and leading a team of Product Owners across multiple product lines. This individual partners with business stakeholders (internal and external) and ensures delivery of the firm’s highest priorities. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced agile environment and has prior experience leading other associates. This role is an integral part of the agile Program Team, partnering with technology leads to ensure maximum overall program delivery.

Responsibilities and Key Duties

  • Oversee the management of up to 15 Product Owners; coordinate interactions with stakeholders, scrum teams, and other key contributors; manage and optimize resource allocation to execute the product vision and roadmap.
  • Partner with key business stakeholders from various channels to understand requests and priorities.
  • Hold Product Owners accountable for ensuring a clear vision and goals at the start of every sprint.
  • Promote ongoing customer engagement via methods including monthly release readouts.
  • Participate in agile organizational assessment and align Ascensus business units as needed.
  • Develop appropriate training for product owners to support a culture of continuous learning and agile maturity.
  • Support Ascensus I-Client service philosophy and Core Values of People Matter, Quality First and Integrity Always. Demonstrate these values in day-to-day actions.
  • Protect and properly handle all confidential data to prevent unauthorized access, improper transmission, or disclosure that could harm Ascensus or clients.
  • Lead the overall “inspect and adapt” philosophy across ceremonies and interactions.
  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned.

Supervision

  • Motivate, provide direction and mentoring to the chapter; ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • Screen candidates for potential employment and provide hiring recommendations.
  • Make decisions in partnership with other functional units to address difficult situations.
  • Mentor staff and ensure compliance with company and industry policies and regulations.
  • Write and deliver performance evaluations; manage staff in a matrix environment.

Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of 12 years of business experience
  • Minimum of 5 years Agile/Scrum practices and best practices preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience
  • Experience with web-based applications and interface conventions
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word and Excel) and agile tools such as JIRA, Aha!, SharePoint
  • Familiarity with financial systems and participant transaction processing is preferred, especially retirement plans
  • Strong communication skills; ability to translate technical terms into business terms and document effectively
  • Detail-oriented and analytical; driven to solve problems and improve processes
  • Proven ability to grasp information quickly and produce results independently
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating meetings with internal stakeholders and influencing others
