Provide clinical, administrative, and strategic oversight to all staff, including medical staff, responsible for patient quality and safety. Oversee the Metrics-that-Matter quality program for the site; know hospital metrics, develop improvement plans, engage appropriate staff, and share outcomes with key stakeholders. Partner with regional and system quality leadership to ensure improvement activities align with system strategy. Engage physicians in key quality priorities; present data at medical staff meetings, medical executive committees, and department meetings; review data with individual physicians as needed. Ensure continuous improvement systems-based strategies to improve quality and safety; oversee data management, analysis, and dissemination of safety and quality data; analyze clinical processes and identify risks; develop strategies to deliver reliable, safe, patient-centered care. Maintain awareness of Collaborative Quality Initiatives (CQI) and work with regional external quality teams to achieve outcomes. Partner with clinical and legal risk, and patient safety to identify safety risks and implement risk reduction; engage physicians in this work; ensure appropriate disclosure for patient safety events in collaboration with clinical and legal risk. Stay engaged in quality and safety literature; attend quality meetings at least annually and participate in required quality, safety, experience meetings per SVP Chief QSE Officer. Monitor Joint Commission SE alerts to maintain compliance with Joint Commission standards. Collaborate with SVP, Chief Quality Officer to implement strategic system goals for quality and safety; participate in regional and system quality meetings, including in-person attendance as requested. Work with site Program Manager to lead hospital QSE committee. May serve as lead for a region-wide or system-wide area of quality, safety, or experience; work on metrics and projects across the region/system. Partner with VPMA and MDQ for service lines to ensure robust peer review activity is maintained.
