The Patient Care Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and facilitating patient care to ensure a smooth and positive experience for all patients. This position involves preparing and organizing documentation and patient records, while also educating patients about what to anticipate during their appointments. Key Responsibilities: Welcome and assist patients, customers, and visitors both in-person and over the phone.
Conduct patient registration across various systems with accuracy.
Respond to phone inquiries in a professional and helpful manner.
Handle collection of payments for time-of-service patient responsibilities.
Verify insurance coverage and secure prior authorizations as needed.
Patient Support: Conduct preliminary screenings, including gathering medical histories before procedures.
Assist in transporting patients to and from exam rooms.
Support patient transfers on and off the exam table as required.
Provide preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
Work Area Maintenance: Assist in preparing mobile units for transport.
Keep the work area clean and organized at all times.
Manage supply orders to ensure availability and proper stocking of items.
Documentation Responsibilities: Ensure patient records are accurate and up-to-date.
Schedule patient appointments while obtaining necessary insurance verifications and authorizations.
Prepare medical records for physicians, patients, and customers as needed.
Maintain precise documentation of patient visits using electronic systems and written records.
Assist clinical staff with necessary documentation and image delivery to relevant parties.
Adhere to HIPAA regulations in all aspects of documentation.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team.
Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hiring, especially for those involved in Mobile Radiology and Oncology.
Valid state driver's license is necessary, depending on the role.
Ability to work at multiple locations as required.
Excellent customer service skills are essential.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities are crucial.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with applications and programs are needed.
Local travel may be necessary to support different sites.
The COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
A pre-employment background check and drug screening will be conducted for all hired candidates.
Preferred Qualifications: Six months of customer service or related experience is preferred.
Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
Bilingual candidates, particularly in Spanish, are encouraged to apply.
Physical Requirements: This role may involve exposure to outdoor conditions during patient transport if working in a mobile unit. Additionally, there may be exposure to strong magnetic fields or radioactive materials, and potential contact with blood/body fluids and infectious diseases. Repetitive movements of hands, arms, and legs.
Effective communication skills are necessary to interact with patients.
Occasional Activities: Stooping, kneeling, or crawling.
Climbing and balancing.
Lifting and carrying to assist in moving non-ambulatory patients as needed.
