Are you an undergraduate student eager to dive into the world of engineering? Join our Engineering Internship Program, designed to provide you with a paid opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional setting. You'll kick off this exciting internship on May 26th and continue through August 7th, with a week off from July 1 to July 7.
This internship offers flexible work scheduling, averaging no more than 36 hours per week, including half-days on Fridays! Experience real-world engineering projects while learning from industry leaders through specialized training sessions that could pave your way for a successful full-time career.
As an Engineering Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission to assist the Navy and military. You will help evaluate construction efforts of Navy ships, identify areas for improvement, and make a significant impact on our organization and the Navy. You will be reporting directly to Quinten King , who leads the construction team for Aegis Class Destroyers.
In this role, you'll be part of the Maritime Engineering, Technology & Sustainment (METS) Business Unit, renowned for its excellence in naval ship and submarine design, engineering services, production support, and logistics. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing ship production on the Arleigh Burke Guided Missile Destroyer Contract by addressing engineering discrepancies during construction.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting in the development of ship construction and machinery.
Supporting experienced engineers and gaining industry insights.
Performing fundamental engineering tasks that will enhance your learning.
Adhering to quality and security protocols throughout your work.
During your internship, you will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with various teams, including the Aegis Destroyer Production Team and Technical Team. This is an excellent chance to engage with a dynamic engineering team committed to excellence and innovation.
To be successful as an Engineering Intern, you should meet the following qualifications:
Eligibility to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university, expected to graduate by Spring 2026.
Pursuing a degree in Engineering, naval architecture, or a related field.
Ideal candidates are rising juniors, rising seniors, or Spring 2026 graduates.
Basic knowledge of relevant engineering tools and software.
Strong internal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
