Position Title: Part Time Assistant Director of Sports Communication, Digital and Emerging Media
Department: Athletics Salary: $40,000 Position Reports To: Assistant Athletic Director / Sports Communication and Media Position Overview: Manhattan University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a 12-month, part-time position of Assistant Director of Sports Communication, Digital and Emerging Media. This position assists the Sports Communication and Media Relations office with the promotion of Manhattan University's student-athlete experience, which assisting with all aspects of day-to-day office operations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Managing social media accounts while ensuring accurate statistics and smooth game-day operations.
The individual will also promote the Athletic Department and its student-athletes to various local and national media. It is paramount that all outgoing materials maintain brand consistency.
The position will be expected to continuously evolve with strategies and methodology for content and promotion of the Athletic Department in the current ever-changing digital age.
Assist in the planning and production of live audio and/or video broadcast of the Jasper Sports Network and ESPN3.
Oversee the Jasper Sports Network / ESPN3 Director for live broadcasts, web streaming, marketing and promotional videos; further developing initiatives in new media, social media and multimedia.
Successful candidates must be able to work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment with coaches, other staff members, Manhattan College employees and external constituents.
Willingness to accept other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in related areas preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of full-time or part time prior experience at the Division I level.
Assertive, outgoing, hard-working and resourceful.
Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with a wide range of constituent groups.
Ability to design marketing materials; proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop preferred.
Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Required to travel and the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail and keep specific timelines.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve.
Ability to work effectively with coaches, faculty, administration, alumni and community.
