Position Title: Middle School Athletic Director Liaison

Location: Massabesic High School / Massabesic Middle School RSU 57 - Waterboro, Maine

Reports To: Director of Athletics - Massabesic High School

Position Summary: The Middle School Athletic Director Liaison serves as the primary point of communication and coordination between the Massabesic High School Athletic Department and the middle school athletic programs. This role supports alignment between middle and high school athletic philosophies, ensures compliance with district and league policies, and promotes a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment for all middle school student-athletes and coaches.

Essential Responsibilities:

Serve as a liaison between the Massabesic High School Athletic Director and all middle school coaches, administrators, and athletic program stakeholders.

Coordinate with high school coaching staff to ensure alignment in program philosophy, skill development, and athletic progression from middle to high school.

Assist with the planning, organization, and supervision of middle school athletic programs, schedules, and events.

Communicate effectively with parents, student-athletes, and school staff regarding schedules, eligibility, expectations, and program updates.

Ensure all middle school athletic teams are adhering to RSU 57 policies, Southern Maine Middle School League regulations, and Maine Principals' Association (MPA) standards.

Support the collection and verification of all required documentation, including physicals, permission forms, and concussion protocols.

Assist in securing game officials, transportation, facility use, and equipment needs for all middle school athletic programs.

Attend middle school home athletic events as necessary; serve as an on-site supervisor when needed.

Foster a positive athletic culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, participation, skill development, and student well-being.

Promote equity, inclusion, and access across all middle school sports programs.

Assist with the recruitment, mentoring, and evaluation of middle school coaching staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience coaching or supervising youth or school-based athletic programs.

Knowledge of interscholastic athletic policies, procedures, and best practices.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, coaches, and school administrators.

CPR/First Aid and concussion training certifications (or willingness to obtain).

Familiarity with RSU 57 and the Massabesic athletic community is a plus.

Time Commitment and Compensation: This is a stipended position, primarily active during the fall, winter, and spring athletic seasons. Specific hours vary based on event schedules and program needs. Compensation to be determined in accordance with RSU 57 district stipend guidelines.
