ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Consult with community medical providers to resolve service delivery issues. Supervise clinical services performed by professional and paraprofessional staff. Provide and manage on-call services. Annually review and approve clinical protocols, policies, procedures, and medical disaster plans. Manage referrals to outside healthcare facilities to ensure quality care and continuity. Sponsor Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners per state laws for correctional facilities. Serve as a resource for staff Physicians and clinical personnel. Assist in credential verification and hiring of healthcare providers. Participate in in-service training classes. Represent the healthcare program with local civic groups or visiting officials as needed. Attend required medical, clinical, and other meetings. Perform sick calls, chronic care, and infirmary care as necessary. Document all patient interactions in medical records, ensuring legibility and compliance. Sign all verbal or telephone orders as required. Adhere to the approved formulary for therapeutics. Review non-formulary requests for documentation of observations and treatment conclusions. Utilize in-house resources for treatment before making referrals. Provide emergency treatment onsite and respond appropriately in urgent situations. Redefine benchmarks for the industry. Have competence in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and AED use. Follow evidence-based medical care standards in compliance with policies and procedures. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Graduate of an accredited medical school. Fully licensed to practice in the state of Wisconsin. Current DEA Registration. Preferred board certification or eligibility in primary care specialty (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine) with experience in corrections and/or managed healthcare delivery. Fluency in English, including strong reading, writing, speaking, and understanding skills. Team-oriented with the ability to contribute to teamwork and collaboration. Ability to make independent decisions in necessary circumstances. Ability to engage tactfully with staff, families, visitors, and agencies. Possess leadership and supervisory skills, working harmoniously with others. Must not pose a health or safety threat to others in the workplace.
