We re seeking an experienced
Medical Director Mental Health
to lead and oversee community-based psychiatric and behavioral health services. The role involves a mix of
clinical, administrative, and supervisory responsibilities
, ensuring quality care and effective coordination across mental health, substance use disorder, and developmental disability programs. Key Responsibilities
Provide
outpatient and emergency psychiatric assessments and treatment
.
Offer
psychiatric consultation
for individual patients, law enforcement, and courts.
Conduct
court evaluations
and order hospital commitments when indicated.
Supervise physicians, psychiatrists, and clinical program directors.
Oversee
quality of services
, privileging, and professional development of clinical staff.
Collaborate with community physicians, hospitals, and partner agencies.
Participate in policy development, staff training, and program evaluation.
Assist the Commissioner of Mental Health in planning and implementing comprehensive community mental health services.
Qualifications
MD or DO
with a license to practice medicine in
New York State
.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
(required).
Minimum
1 year of supervisory or administrative experience
in a clinical or behavioral health setting.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Deep understanding of modern psychiatric practices and community mental health systems.
