Medical Director - Adelante Healthcare Reports to: Chief Clinical Officer

We are seeking a collaborative and visionary Medical Director to support and guide our clinical teams while maintaining an active clinical practice.
Position Summery:
The Medical Director supports the Chief Clinical Officer in providing oversight and coordination of high-quality, cost-effective, and comprehensive care across our health centers. This role includes direct patient care, clinical leadership, and operational responsibilities focused on improving clinical workflows, patient satisfaction, and provider engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
Serve as the primary liaison between medical providers and organizational leadership Lead and participate in health center medical staff meetings Mentor and support clinical staff, including onboarding, training, and performance management Guide integration of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Care Delivery Integration (CDI) models Collaborate with the Chief Clinical Officer on clinical strategies, budget development, and provider performance goals
Clinical Oversight
Maintain an active clinical practice within assigned specialty Oversee quality of care and implementation of evidence-based practices Coordinate diagnosis-related protocols and management of standing orders Monitor compliance with regulatory and quality standards Ensure adequate provider coverage, manage schedule adjustments and PTO coordination
Team Development & Supervision
Provide one-on-one performance reviews and goal setting for clinical providers Assist in provider recruitment and interview process Promote a collaborative environment across departments and disciplines Support conflict resolution and serve as a liaison for escalated clinical issues
Operational Excellence
Facilitate the implementation of new clinical projects and initiatives Monitor provider access, productivity, and revenue performance metrics Partner with other specialty medical directors to ensure consistency in care delivery Collaborate with Health Center Practice Administrators to optimize clinic workflows
Required Qualifications:
MD or DO from an accredited institution Completion of U.S. residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Minimum of:3 years of clinical experience in a healthcare system 2 years of management experience (preferably in a community health center or FQHC)
Active and unrestricted Arizona medical license (or ability to obtain before start date) Board certified or board eligible in respective specialty Valid DEA license and CPR/BLS/AED certification Valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (required for behavioral health locations) Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and interdisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Public Health Administration or a related field Bilingual (Spanish/English)
