Position Summary:
Adelante Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Director to support the Chief Clinical Officer in the oversight, coordination, and delivery of high-quality, cost-effective medical care across our health centers. This role includes providing direct patient care within the individual's scope of practice while leading and mentoring clinical teams in alignment with organizational goals.
The ideal candidate will be a mission-driven clinical leader with a strong background in outpatient care, medical management, and community health.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the primary liaison between the provider team and organizational leadership
Develop, coordinate, and enforce clinical and operational policies and procedures
Lead initiatives to implement and enhance the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model
Supervise, monitor, and evaluate provider performance, quality of care, and compliance
Provide onboarding, mentorship, and performance reviews for new and existing providers
Participate in provider recruitment, scheduling, and time-off management
Lead regular medical staff meetings and clinical workflow improvement initiatives
Collaborate with Health Center Practice Administrators and departmental leadership
Ensure regulatory compliance and help implement new projects and clinical strategies
Partner with other specialty medical directors to align care delivery across services
Contribute to the development of departmental budgets and performance expectations
Respond to escalated clinical or patient care concerns with professionalism and diplomacy
Promote provider engagement, satisfaction, and alignment with Adelantes mission
Required Qualifications:
Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with family medicine training
Active clinical license in good standing (AZ license required before start date)
Valid DEA certification
BLS/AED certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (Arizona DPS)
Masters degree in Public Health Administration or related field preferred
Minimum of 3 years clinical provider experience with excellent performance record
At least 2 years in a healthcare management or leadership role; FQHC experience strongly preferred
Successful completion of national board certification
Meets medical staff membership requirements
Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and improve care delivery systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in general office systems and computer literacy
Valid Arizona drivers license
Cultural competence and commitment to health equity
Preferred Skills:
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Familiarity with Care Delivery Integration (CDI) models
Experience with interdisciplinary communication and patient engagement best practices
