Mission or Goal of Unit: The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) is seeking a full-time, BC/BE pediatric hepatologist to serve as the Director of Pediatric Hepatology. Applicants should have experience in both pediatric hepatology and transplantation. The successful candidate will be faculty in the VCU School of Medicine with affiliation in the Department of Surgery and assist in the development of a multidisciplinary pediatric transplantation core team at CHoR. Our central hub is at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU in downtown Richmond, with satellite locations and community clinics all throughout Central Virginia. Chief Purpose of this position:  The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) is seeking a full-time, BC/BE pediatric hepatologist to serve as the Director of Pediatric Hepatology. The faculty shares a common commitment to providing exceptional clinical care to children as well as providing a quality education to trainees and research in the area of hepatology. There are opportunities for teaching and supervision of medical and graduate students and pediatric residents. Candidates will be part of a dynamic effort to enhance an academic gastroenterology center. Research and other scholarly activity are expected, and opportunities exist for collaborative research with established researchers. In particular, the Division of Adult Hepatology has a longstanding and extensive clinical and basic science research program. Numerous campus resources are available to support basic, clinical and translational research, including a NIH-funded CTSA and the VCU Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR). Position Responsibilities: Teaching: Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the area of Hepatology. Faculty member will provide guidance and mentorship to Residents and Chief Residents in GI. Research: Faculty member will have experience in securing revenue through grants and contracts and will serve as a research mentor to other members of the division and the Department of Pediatrics. Service: Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, as well as professional through journal review, conference presentations. Clinical: Faculty member will provide clinical support within the Division of Gastroenterology in support of the clinical mission of CHoR of VCU Health System. Required Qualifications: Board Certification/Board Eligible in Pediatrics Board Certification/Board Eligible in Pediatric Gastroenterology Board Certification/Board Eligible in Pediatric Transplant Hepatology Experience with clinical care of patients ages birth to 21 Experience with education of house staff, medical students, and others Experience with research Excellent interpersonal skills Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU Preferred Qualifications: Sub-board and or additional graduate degree Experience with advocacy at local, state, and national levels Success in generating revenue (grants/contracts)
