Job Overview – Medical Director (Internal Medicine):
Compensation: $280,000 – $300,000/year
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Join our client as the Medical Director (Internal Medicine) in New York, NY, overseeing outpatient primary care and HIV services. In this leadership role, you will partner with the Chief Medical Officer, manage a multidisciplinary team, and drive quality care initiatives. Your focus will include care coordination, patient outcomes, and implementing innovations such as Long-Acting Injectables to strengthen community health.
Responsibilities as the Medical Director (Internal Medicine):
Leadership & Administration: Provide strategic direction and partner with site leadership to elevate primary care services.
Clinical Care: Deliver patient-centered primary care, manage a dedicated patient panel, and participate in on-call coverage.
Quality Improvement: Lead performance initiatives, track clinical outcomes, and monitor provider productivity.
Operations Management: Optimize workflows in collaboration with administrative, nursing, and patient experience teams.
Training & Development: Recruit, onboard, mentor, and develop medical staff to support professional growth and retention.
Community Engagement: Represent the organization at medical conferences, community events, and professional forums.
Qualifications for the Medical Director (Internal Medicine):
Education: Medical Degree (MD or DO) required.
Licensure:  Active New York State medical license required.
Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (HIV certification preferred).
Experience:  5+ years in medical leadership combined with 3+ years of clinical practice in community health, hospital, or primary care environments.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in EMR systems (Epic strongly preferred) with demonstrated ability to analyze clinical data, manage quality metrics, and drive performance improvement.
Industry Knowledge:  Expertise in FQHC operations, compliance, patient care models, and safety-net healthcare, with experience collaborating with hospitals and managing patient transfers.
