About the Role: As the Medical Director for our hospice program, you will oversee all medical aspects of our care, ensuring the highest standards of service and support. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to manage patient care, serve as a community advocate, and promote our mission to healthcare providers and community organizations. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert medical direction and oversight of hospice services. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, Medicare regulations, and state statutes. Lead the development and evaluation of patient care policies and emergency procedures. Conduct quality assessments and participate in improvement plans to enhance medical education and care. Serve as a medical resource for the hospice interdisciplinary team. Act as a liaison to community physicians, offering education on hospice and palliative care. Review patients' eligibility for hospice services and collaborate on their care plans. Oversee pain management strategies and medication protocols for patients. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, ensuring collaborative care approaches. Maintain current knowledge of hospice care advancements and best practices. Document all care provided and contribute to patient records to track disease progression. Provide training on end-of-life care to internal staff and volunteers. Ensure access to physician services on a 24-hour basis for hospice patients. Assist in evaluating protocols for quality and cost-effectiveness. Qualifications: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy licensed in the state, without disciplinary action. Current controlled substances registration with state and federal authorities. Experience in hospice or palliative care, with an emphasis on end-of-life training. Commitment to ongoing medical education in hospice and palliative care. Eligibility to participate in the Medicare program. Physical Demands: This role requires frequent standing or sitting, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
