This individual will execute medical strategies for the first FDA-approved CRISPR-cas9 medicine (Exa-Cel) for Sickle Cell Disease and Transfusion-dependent B-Thalassemia. Responsibilities include providing medical leadership for the therapeutic area, developing and executing medical strategies and plans, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align scientific and medical strategies with corporate and stakeholder needs, ensuring the voice of the patient and medical community is integrated into product strategies. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Develop medical affairs plans, including launch and lifecycle management strategies. Interpret scientific data critically, assess new research impact on clinical practice, and formulate disease management approaches. Provide input from the medical community into clinical development and commercial strategies. Communicate scientific data effectively through presentations and publications. Consider country/regional insights in global medical strategies and activities. Support development of global medical, commercial, regulatory, and reimbursement documents with scientific input. Perform/oversee medical/scientific training for internal stakeholders. Review investigator-sponsored study proposals and research grants. Knowledge and Skills: Deep understanding of global medical, regulatory, and commercial environments, including payer considerations. Excellent communication skills for influencing internal and external stakeholders. Ability to develop relationships in a matrixed environment and with external thought leaders. Constructive conflict resolution skills. Education and Experience: Medical degree from a reputable institution; at least 8 years of clinical and/or medical industry experience. Sub-specialty training in Hematology or Hematology/Oncology preferred; experience in marrow/hematopoietic transplant a plus. 8+ years in biotech/pharma industry, with 5+ in Medical Affairs, including experience with thought leaders and medical material review. Pay Range: $288,000 - $431,900 Additional Information: Role includes bonuses, equity awards, and comprehensive benefits. Hybrid or on-site work options available, subject to company policy.
