Overview Marketing Director to lead the marketing function for one of our event portfolios. You are a natural leader who excels at building, mentoring, and inspiring high-performing teams. With deep expertise in the events or B2B media space, you combine strategic acumen with a data-driven approach to own the marketing budget, define brand positioning, and deliver measurable results. You will report to the VP Data, Digital & Marketing, North America and drive the portfolio's market presence, brand identity, and overall marketing success.
We are seeking a candidate who can lead a senior marketing function, align cross-functional teams around a unified vision, and achieve ambitious business objectives.
The Role The Marketing Director is a senior leadership position responsible for developing and executing the comprehensive marketing strategy for one of our events. This role involves leading the entire marketing team for the portfolio, owning the marketing budget, and driving audience and revenue growth across all events and digital products.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing Strategy & Leadership: Develop, implement, and own the annual marketing strategy and budget, ensuring alignment with the portfolio's commercial goals.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of marketing professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Establish and track clear KPIs for the team, holding them accountable for results and optimizing strategy based on performance.
Serve as the key marketing stakeholder for the portfolio, reporting on strategy, performance, and insights to senior executive leadership.
Brand & Go-to-Market Strategy: Define and steward the brand identity, positioning, and key messaging across all channels to ensure a consistent and compelling market presence.
Conduct in-depth market, competitor, and audience analysis to identify new opportunities, mitigate risks, and inform strategic direction.
Oversee the go-to-market strategy for new event launches and product extensions within the portfolio.
Financial Management & Performance Analysis: Take full ownership of the portfolio's marketing budget, including forecasting, allocation, and ROI analysis.
Analyze overall marketing funnel and campaign performance to identify trends, derive actionable insights, and drive strategic pivots.
Prepare and present comprehensive performance reports to senior leadership, translating data into strategic recommendations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary marketing partner to other department heads (Sales, Content, Operations), ensuring fully integrated and collaborative efforts.
Guide the team in managing relationships with key external partners, agencies, and vendors to execute the marketing strategy effectively.
About You We are looking for a candidate who brings the following skills and attributes:
8+ years of progressive experience in B2B marketing, with a strong preference for experience in the events, media, or trade show industry.
5+ years of direct people management experience, with a proven ability to lead and develop marketing teams.
Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing successful multi-channel marketing strategies.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Strong financial acumen and experience managing significant marketing budgets.
Excellent strategic thinking and analytical capabilities, with a talent for translating data into actionable strategies.
An inspirational and decisive leader who takes initiative and ownership.
Highly results-driven, adaptable, and composed while managing competing priorities and firm deadlines.
A collaborative team player committed to fostering a positive and growth-oriented culture.
Expert proficiency with marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot) and CRM systems.
Advanced knowledge of web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Willingness and ability to travel 3-6 times a year as needed.
