Marching Band Director

The Director of the Marching Band provides a balance of musical artistry and teaching. Identifies and develops creative sequential learning processes for students, guides them through these steps utilizing a variety of methods, and check for student learning. Engages students with an assortment of rehearsal techniques. Proficient at rehearsal pacing designed to stimulate student interaction with the music and movement elements involved.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Establish and develop the marching band program

2. Recruit, direct, promote and maintain all aspects of the program

3. Coordinate with the Director of Campus Activities for use of athletic facilities for practice

4. Community outreach to foster relationships/recruit from high schools

Researches, recommends, oversees, directs, arranges, schedules, facilitates, plans, and/or evaluates applicable performances, programs, workshops and/or campus. Performs all community programming and organizational duties including and not limited to: marketing, fundraising, securing venues, contract administration, developing relationships with community stakeholders, and pursuing grant opportunities. Recruits potential students. Builds and maintains professional relationships with area band directors.

Travel Required

Yes. Going to area high schools to build relationships and recruiting

Education

Masters or better in Music Education/Perform or related field.
