The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible. Human Resources Solutions (HRS) supports the HR needs of DSS, HRA, and DHS through strategic partnership and collaboration, aiming to create an inclusive, motivated, and client-centered workforce. Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner of HR Services, the Managing Director will provide inspiration, motivation, and guidance to HR Services leaders and managers. They will be responsible for directing the implementation of special projects, policy, and process changes, ensuring effective and efficient implementation. HRS is recruiting for one (1) Administrative Director Of Social Services M-III to function as the Managing Director of Special Projects, who will: Prepare and present data and reports to HR leadership, identify errors or issues, and recommend solutions. Develop and execute implementation strategies. Provide strategic and operational advice to the Deputy Commissioner. Prepare and implement comprehensive work plans and ensure deadlines are met. Develop and monitor reports on implementation efforts. Ensure policies are communicated effectively within the division. Review reports submitted by unit heads to reward performance, prevent issues, and resolve problems. Analyze situations and provide solutions. Present data results and reports, identify errors, and propose solutions. Minimum Qualifications A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of progressively responsible experience in a large governmental agency, business, or civic organization operating in social services, including one year at the managerial level; or Equivalent education and/or experience, with graduate education or a license potentially substituting for up to three years of experience, as detailed in the original description. All candidates must have a baccalaureate degree and one year of experience at the managerial level as described above. Preferred Skills Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to build relationships and influence staff at all levels. Strong analytical and project management skills. Ability to work well under stress with tight deadlines.
