Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice to clients across a variety of industries on import and export matters.
  • Lead, participate in, and contribute to market and business development activities external to the firm, identifying and pursuing additional opportunities such as international tax, state and local tax, and transfer pricing.
  • Monitor and convey U.S. and international import/export trade matters, research, write, and review trade advice.
  • Formulate ideas and deliver potential trade savings opportunities.
  • Contribute to the growth, experience, and institutional knowledge of team members.
  • Build, manage, direct, and monitor multiple client engagement teams while maintaining active communication with clients to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Minimum ten years of recent import/export experience in trade and customs fields such as customs attorney, customs broker, U.S. Customs Auditor, or Import Specialist, including experience with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, customs federal regulations, NAFTA, entry processes, valuation, and compliance methods.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and licensed CPA, JD/LLM, Enrolled Agent, and/or valid CBL (Customs Brokers license), CUSICO (Certified US Import Compliance Officer), CUSECO (Certified US Export Compliance Officer), or CCS (Certified Customs Specialist).
  • Previous experience in a tax or advisory services firm, corporation, or trade law firm.
  • Demonstrated track record of business development with the ability to develop and maintain internal and external client relationships and build new relationships with key targets.
  • Experience leading multiple engagements and client service teams and mentoring staff within a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to evaluate and articulate complex information.
