The Valuation & Capital Market Analysis (VCMA) Managing Director is responsible for providing expert opinions on the value of businesses, securities, and other assets in the context of legal disputes. This role involves actively managing valuation assignments and staff development, and leading business development to grow the VCMA practice. Job Duties Provide expert opinions on the value of businesses, securities, and other assets in legal disputes, including shareholder disputes, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy, and estate planning (probate). Provide expert witness testimony in court and other legal proceedings. Conduct complex valuations and financial analysis; prepare expert reports and documentation to support opinions. Execute personal business development plans in coordination with practice leadership; build and maintain client and legal counsel relationships; participate in activities to grow the practice. Coordinate with Alliance Firms and international firms on opportunities as they arise. Stay current on regulations, legal cases, and best practices to ensure high-quality engagement delivery. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise day-to-day VCMA staff workload on assigned engagements and review work product. Ensure VCMA staff are trained on valuation databases and models. Evaluate performance and assist in goal setting and professional development. Deliver performance feedback and conduct evaluations; act as Career Advisor to VCMA staff as appropriate. Education, Experience, Certifications, and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required. Master’s in Business Administration preferred. Fifteen (15) or more years in business valuation, with ten (10) or more years in litigation support required. Direct testifying experience – hearings, depositions, and trials – required. CPA, CFA, ASA, or other valuation credential required. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); Capital IQ and Bloomberg experience preferred. Superior verbal and written communication; strong analytical and research skills; excellent organization; ability to multi-task; ability to travel domestically and internationally.
