Healthcare Services Plainfield, IL - Maintenance Director – Skilled Nursing Facility
A well-established skilled nursing facility is seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Director to lead and oversee all aspects of maintenance operations within our community. This role is responsible for ensuring the building and grounds are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly manner, in compliance with all current federal, state, and local regulations.
The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and strong leadership skills to manage preventative and ongoing maintenance, life safety protocols, facilities, materials management, security, and housekeeping functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all maintenance operations for the facility, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Lead and execute preventive maintenance programs and projects.
Ensure compliance with life safety codes, building codes, and health/safety regulations.
Maintain HVAC systems to ensure consistent climate control.
Manage the safety and security of residents and staff through timely repairs and hazard mitigation.
Perform routine facility maintenance such as carpentry, painting, groundskeeping, and minor plumbing/electrical work.
Collaborate with facility staff to provide a well-maintained and safe environment for all.
Supervise maintenance team members (as applicable) and coordinate third-party vendor services when needed.
Maintain proper documentation and reports related to inspections, compliance, and repairs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or long-term care environment.
Working knowledge of mechanical systems such as boilers, compressors, and generators.
Familiarity with building codes, OSHA, and life safety regulations specific to long-term care settings.
Technical proficiency in general maintenance areas, including:
Plumbing – fixing leaks, clogs, and drainage issues
Electrical – addressing wiring and power issues
Carpentry – repairing doors, windows, and structural features
Groundskeeping – maintaining outdoor areas, if applicable
HVAC – routine maintenance and troubleshooting
Ability to identify and correct safety hazards proactively.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
