As the Senior Director, Staffing & Resource Management, you will maintain oversight of all US resourcing needs across Lippincott's consulting teams. In this role, you will be responsible for allocating our team members and freelancers appropriately, creating teams that enable successful client engagements, championing the growth and development of our consultants, and contributing to firm profitability through effective resourcing practices.
You will partner with US Practice heads and other areas of our business, including Finance, Growth & Business Development, and People Services to monitor and influence team member activity, share learnings about employee development, and identify skillset, training, and hiring needs. In some cases, you may oversee or assist with the recruiting process. You will also work closely with project managers to maximize alignment between staffed allocations, utilization, and project budgets to ensure resources are optimally deployed, helping improve the accuracy of regular business forecasting.
Under your leadership, our consulting teams will be well-allocated on project work that drives firm revenue and makes use of their existing skillsets, while providing opportunities for growth and development. Our leaders will have the data they need to make informed project management decisions related to team structure, and our teams will gain a clear understanding of how their time should be spent, and how to communicate changes that enable us to serve all project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Staffing and Allocation Management (60%)
Lead the end-to-end staffing process for all US client engagements, from initial new business pursuits through active project delivery and changes in scope.
Allocate team members to projects, balancing project budget, consultant skillsets and billable rates, and individual development needs and goals.
Serve as an advisor to senior leaders, team leads, and project managers when solutioning for their staffing requirements, providing guidance that strikes the optimal balance between the needs of the client/project and broader business imperatives.
Lead regular staffing meetings to resolve allocation conflicts, manage competing project priorities, and ensure staffing decisions are made efficiently and transparently.
In partnership with the Head of Project Management and the Finance team, help analyze project and resource burn rates against staffed allocations and establish the processes for identifying intervention points and communicating to Project Leads, Senior Partners, and firm leadership.
As required, source and staff freelancers to client projects, building our network of trusted third-party contributors.
Liaise with geography leads and staffing managers in EMEA and APAC to staff multi-office teams, and to leverage team members across offices in short-term capacities to support projects and improve application rates.
Strategic Planning (20%)
In partnership with the Head of Operations, help further establish US Staffing as a core function that drives operational efficiency and business profitability.
Provide Practice Area leads, Senior Partners, and the Growth & Business Development (GBD) team with a clear, regular view on staffing assignments, capacity, and needs based on the new business pipeline, newly sold projects, and ongoing engagements.
Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the staffing function through process refinement, automation/new tools, and change management efforts across the broader firm that align with the Lippincott firm culture and ways of working.
Partner with the Project Management function to create linkages between staff allocations and utilization, and to develop staffing best practices (e.g., team size, managing ramp up/ ramp down periods, bringing in short-term support, etc.)
Assess application rates on an ongoing basis, identifying trends and insights that help our leaders manage the business for increased productivity.
Develop and distribute the monthly Outlook Dashboard to our global Senior Partner and Partner teams.
Train and manage a junior team member who can support day-to-day staffing allocation needs and ongoing management, as the business continues to grow and scale by revenue, capabilities, and headcount.
Talent Development and Collaboration (20%)
Partner with the People Services (HR) team to create job descriptions and assist in recruiting for select business capabilities.
Partner with the People Services (HR) team to create a holistic view of team member development, using staffing data to inform career pathing and help manage the talent management lifecycle, including performance reviews, promotion cycles, and acquisition efforts.
Serve as a key point of contact for consultants regarding their project assignments, workload, and aspirations, to foster a culture of development and equitable opportunity.
Utilize the staffing process to identify emerging skill gaps and training needs across the consulting practice.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 15+ years of relevant professional experience in a fast-paced and dynamic client services business environment, with experience in management consulting.
A proven track record of building a high performance staffing and capacity planning function in a professional services environment.
Demonstrated ability to balance shifting work demands in a challenging environment.
Experience of understanding, balancing, and satisfying numerous stakeholders at different levels in the organization and leading teams effectively.
Proven capability to cultivate relationships at all organizational levels.
Experience in developing and utilizing analytics to inform sound recommendations and decisions.
A strong track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
Proven ability to successfully nurture and grow a high-performance team culture.

The applicable base pay for this role is $190,000 - $220,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position will be eligible for performance-based incentives.
