Overview The Thompson Public Library is seeking a community-oriented, intelligent, customer-service focused, creative, professional, and technologically capable individual to lead the library team. The Library Director is a Librarian responsible for the administration and supervision of the Library and the provision of library services including programming, collection development, and building maintenance. The Library Director fosters community partnerships and maintains a professional relationship with the Town of Thompson's government. The Director coordinates with the Connecticut State Library and participates in the regional library community of Connecticut. The Director reports to the Thompson Public Library Board of Trustees and keeps the Selectmen's Office informed as appropriate.
Responsibilities Administer and supervise the Library and provide library services including programming, collection development, and building maintenance.
Foster community partnerships and maintain a professional relationship with the Town of Thompson's government.
Coordinate with the Connecticut State Library and participate in the regional library community of Connecticut.
Perform all similar or related duties as assigned.
Report directly to the Thompson Public Library Board of Trustees and keep the Selectmen's Office informed as appropriate.
Qualifications Master\'s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
Progressively responsible library experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory, managerial, or administrative role.
Proven leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Strong commitment to public service, intellectual freedom, and community engagement.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with government officials, staff, and the public.
Willingness to learn new technology.
Familiarity with technology and computers.
Familiar with managing social media.
Experience with an integrated library system such as Koha, LS2, or Ex Libris; familiarity with Evergreen a plus.
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, ability to learn the online circulation system, fax machine, photocopier, printer, scanner, and laminator.
Experience with online programs such as Gmail/Google Docs, Yahoo email, and Microsoft 365.
Excellent organizational skills.
Familiarity with the Bibliomation library consortium.
Three or more years of experience working in a library or education-related environment.

Salary Range $60,000.00-$70,000.00/year
