Current Need: McKesson Technology (MT) has Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) which is a centralized function to 1) enable consistent portfolio management 2) build and mature project and program management capabilities and 3) drive project management rigor and standards to enable value realization from investments. Lead Technology Portfolio Management Director will be a key member of the EPMO team. The individual will be responsible for serving as a portfolio lead supporting Enterprise Applications, Finance and Corporate Functions. The individual in this role will need to be able to operate within a high level of ambiguity, remain calm under pressure and help establish structure and focus. Key Responsibilities: Lead portfolio intake process and prioritization meetings with cross functional partners and influence across teams to ensure alignment with the strategy and achieve business goals. Lead and facilitate creation of baseline financials for new initiatives in partnership with service managers, ensuring clarity and alignment with key stakeholders. Monitor and track the portfolio health, progress, and interdependencies with other teams, and identifies impacts and recommends sequencing of the work. Lead connectivity between delivery teams, finance partners and other portfolio leads, influencing decisions to achieve successful business outcomes. Understand capacity constraints across the delivery teams, drive visibility and facilitate alignment of priorities and trade-offs needed. Establish and facilitate regular portfolio reviews to ensure visibility to execution progress, financials, capacity challenges, project risks and outcomes/value. Analyzes data on projects, resources, and workloads and derives actionable insights for the service managers and the senior leadership. Ensure quality and accuracy of portfolio data within the portfolio tool. Drive adoption of the portfolio tool with assigned teams, by providing communication and support on processes and expectations. Provide aggregate reporting on portfolio health and prepare information for executive presentations in a digestible and crisp format. Establish clarity and connect the dots across multiple teams, while employing standard ways of working with other portfolio leads. Ensure projects follow governance framework that provide visibility to project lifecycle and ensure projects have completed all the necessary work to move to the next stage. Oversee and ensure approval for all Change Requests for both budget and schedule deviations. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met for portfolio information. Flex between tactical project level conversations and strategic portfolio conversations and adapt communication to the audience. Required Skills and Experience Typically requires 10 + years of experience. Requires at least 5+ years of program and/or portfolio management experience. Requires at least 3+ years of experience within a technology focused area (Enterprise Applications, Shared Services - Finance, HR, Legal, etc.) Critical Skills and experiences Exceptional executive presentation, communication, and influence management skills. Experience working with VP's, SVP's / C-suites on a regular basis Program management leadership experience, both directly leading large programs (not project management) and program/project managers. Experience overseeing large portfolios and driving strategic alignment, prioritization, managing their investments & value realization, preferably within technology space, but general technology experience coupled with business portfolio management is acceptable. Experience delivering results by collaborating and influencing business and technology delivery teams in a highly matrixed organization. Proven stakeholder management skills & building credibility with executive leadership. Ability to intentionally flex between strategy and detail and adapt style to different levels of the organization. Experience driving organizational transformation and change management. Ability to make complex concepts simple and convey it laymen’s terms. Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative relationships and move with speed while bringing people along. High degree of emotional maturity and ability to remain calm and focused under pressure. Additional Knowledge & Skills desired but not required. Experience working within Enterprise Applications or Shared Services – Finance, HR, Legal, etc. is high desirable. Experience working in large matrixed organizations is highly desirable. Experience working with portfolio tools (Planview, Clarity, etc.) is desirable. Experience in a highly regulated industry is desirable. Certification(s) in SAFe Agile, Prince2 / APM, PMP and/or Lean Six Sigma desirable.
