About the Role
The Company is seeking an Interim Managing Director for its Mid-Atlantic region. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the consolidation and transition of the Baltimore and DC regions, acting as a key liaison with school and district leaders to maintain and enhance Reading Centers. This role involves direct tutoring services, serving as the primary contact with the D.C. Public School District, and supporting a local Program Manager in managing AmeriCorps members. The Interim Managing Director will also be responsible for ensuring program fidelity, overseeing AmeriCorps member retention, and playing a pivotal role in local fundraising efforts to meet a $1.5 million private funding goal. The position requires a leader with a strong background in people and operations management, as well as a proven track record in relationship development and communications, particularly with philanthropic organizations and individual donors.
Candidates for this interim position should have a minimum of 3 years' senior-level leadership and managerial experience, with a background in working with nonprofits, school districts, government officials, and philanthropic organizations in the Washington D.C. area. The role demands a leader adept at building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including community partners, policymakers, and funders. The ideal candidate will have a deep belief in the mission of the organization, a commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Experience in the education sector, particularly in the launch or growth phases of organizations, is a plus. The Interim Managing Director will be expected to lead a team, provide professional development, and ensure the integration of regional advisory boards in the newly imagined structure.
