Schedule: 40 hours/week Duration: 3–6 months Compensation: Approximately $55 per hour

What the Role Involves As the Library Director, you’ll provide visionary leadership and manage all facets of library operations. Responsibilities include: Strategic planning, budgeting, and policy development Overseeing staffing, recruitment, and performance evaluation Leading collection development, programming, and community engagement Ensuring daily operations, facilities oversight, and public services run smoothly Reporting to and collaborating with the Board, preparing reports and updates Advocating for the library within municipal and regional networks
Qualifications Ideal candidates will have: A Master’s in Library/Information Science (ALA-accredited) Significant experience in library administration, including budget and personnel management A track record of strategic leadership, community outreach, and partnering with governance bodies Strong familiarity with public library operations and standards common across NJ, as defined in NJLA roles
