Why Join This Mission-Driven Organization?
You will lead ICU nursing services in a 600-bed Level III trauma and stroke center, serving a diverse and dynamic population. The organization is one of the largest in the region, delivering advanced care including cardiovascular surgery, neuroscience, oncology, neonatal/pediatric care, and more
You'll be immersed in a collaborative culture with interdisciplinary teams, leadership councils, and a strong focus on quality improvement, patient safety, and compassionate care
This is the opportunity to make a real impact during a leadership transition, with visibility and influence in critical-care operations and strategy.
Core Responsibilities
Provide clinical and administrative leadership for the ICU, including recruitment, orientation, onboarding, and mentorship for charge nurses and clinical staff. Act as the primary resource for emergent and high-acuity situations
Oversee nursing workflow and unit operations: Manage patient flow, staffing assignments, and resource allocation to ensure safe and effective care delivery
Collaborate with interprofessional teams—physicians, APPs, tele-ICU providers, quality staff—to align daily care with unit goals and regulatory standards
Lead or support quality improvement initiatives, participate in policy development, ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements (e.g. Title?22, CDPH, accreditation), and address patient safety concerns
Foster a positive team environment by promoting shared decision-making, supporting preceptors and new hires, and serving as a visible leadership role model
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse license in California
BLS certification required
BSN degree required; MSN preferred
Minimum 5 years of nursing leadership or management experience, preferably in critical care, ICU, or similar acute clinical settings
Experience with nursing governance councils, quality programs, and regulatory compliance strongly preferred
Why This Role Matters
As Interim ICU Director, you will be the stabilizing force during leadership transition, shaping ICU operations, influencing patient care standards, and uplifting nursing practice across critical care domains.
Your presence ensures continuity of care, staff support, and governance, while helping embed long-term improvements and team resilience.
