Internship Opportunity
This internship is designed to allow college students and recent graduates to explore all facets of a career with Arkansas State Parks, specifically focusing on the hospitality industry. Interns will assist with various areas of hospitality and lodging operations, including visitor services, housekeeping, maintenance, and interpretation.
Location: Paragould, AR
Schedule: June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Visitor services, including providing information in person and on the phone, helping guests plan their experiences, creating reservations, facilitating arrivals, and giving safety information;
- Lodging facility maintenance, including cleaning, preventive maintenance, inventorying amenities;
- Facilitating guest experiences, such as assisting with guided hikes, kayak tours, or other outdoor recreation programs;
- Research and propose an improvement to the guest experience
Marginal Duties:
- Learn about the impact of tourism on the economy of Arkansas;
- Visit with the Office of Outdoor Recreation;
- Visit Marketing & Revenue Department;
- Visit Communications Department;
- Facility Care
Required Qualifications:
- Be a full-time student in good standing at an Arkansas college/university at the time of application.
- Be an Arkansas resident paying in-state tuition.
- Have completed 60 hours of college credit by the time the internship begins.
- Have declared a degree of study.
- Maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
- Demonstrate coursework or knowledge related to work area.
- Have reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have a declared major in Parks & Recreation, Hospitality, Business, or another field related to parks
- Attend a university who will provide course credit for completion of internship
Hours: 40 per week
Living Accommodations: No living accommodations provided.
Compensation:
- Living allowance - $500/week
- Commuting allowance - $50/week
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
