Hospice Director of Nursing

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Hospice Administrator/ Director of Nursing to lead both administrative and clinical operations from our Snellville, GA office. This dual-role leader will ensure the highest standard of patient-centered hospice care while maintaining full compliance with all federal, state, and Georgia-specific regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strategic vision, operational excellence, and clinical expertise to foster a culture of compassion, integrity, and collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Up to $120,000 per year, based on experience
  • Bonuses: Quarterly performance bonuses tied to organizational and quality metrics
  • Health Insurance: Provided through United Healthcare
  • Paid Time Off: 3 weeks annually after 90 days
  • Mileage Reimbursement: 50 cent per mile reimbursement

Schedule

  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • On Call: All nurses do on call but the Hospice DON will only be called in an emergency which rarely occurs
  • Primarily office-based in Snellville, GA, with occasional field support as needed for clinical or operational needs.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Georgia (BSN required; MSN preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in hospice or palliative care with both clinical and administrative responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with Home Care Home Base (HCHB) EMR system or willingness to learn.
  • In-depth knowledge of hospice operations, nursing practices, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, and Georgia-specific compliance requirements.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, support growth, and lead diverse teams.
  • Compassionate leadership approach with a focus on patients, families, and team well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and alignment with organizational mission and values.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that meet Georgia hospice regulations as well as Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
  • Manage budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Represent us to families, healthcare providers, community organizations, and regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with both clinical and administrative teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Respond to and resolve patient, family, or staff concerns in accordance with state regulations.
  • Stay up to date with Georgia hospice regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
Clinical Leadership
  • Lead and supervise the nursing team to ensure delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures that comply with all state and federal requirements.
  • Oversee individualized patient care plans to ensure effectiveness and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to maintain quality and compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (physicians, social workers, chaplains, etc.) to provide comprehensive patient and family care.
  • Support continuous learning through education, training, and professional development for clinical staff.
  • Monitor licensing compliance and ensure readiness for inspections and audits.
  • Review feedback from patients and families to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide clinical guidance and support during emergencies.
  • Assist in the field when necessary to support nursing staff, ensure continuity of care, or respond to urgent patient needs.
