Highway & Roads Market Sector Director Primary Responsibilities Market Sector Directors (MSD) are part of HDR's matrix management structure that drive our business. The HDR Highway & Roads (H&R) market sector is the largest, representing nearly $1B in annual revenue globally. It includes clients that own and operate highways, toll roads, city, town, and local roads, and bridge structures. HDR provides professional services such as bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services. This role requires understanding of H&R clients, their funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures at various levels. The primary responsibilities are divided into three areas : Market leadership and business development (about 70%) Staff development (20%) Support to Operations (10%) Market Sector Directors set the vision for HDR's strategy to expand services within the sector, support growth initiatives, develop staff, and coordinate strategic business planning with various leadership levels. They maintain communication with regional and area leadership to implement growth and operational plans. HDR has contracts with nearly every state department of transportation in the US, and is expanding internationally. The Director supports business development and client management, defines growth initiatives, coordinates best practices, and promotes HDR's brand and services. Responsibilities include : Overseeing strategic vision and market sector growthServing as key client manager and project leaderPromoting HDR services and participating in industry associationsDeveloping industry partnerships and strategic alliances Staff Development Leading an organization that supports staff growth, technical excellence, and recruitment. Managing the P&L, supporting technical and operational staff, and participating in performance evaluations. Support to Operations Assisting project delivery, monitoring performance indicators, supporting work sharing, and ensuring quality standards are met. Qualifications Preferred : 20+ years in highway / bridge planning or engineering, PE license, leadership in industry associations. Required : Bachelor's in Engineering, 12+ years of industry experience including leadership, strong communication and business skills, commitment to employee ownership culture.
