Highway & Roads Market Sector DirectorPrimary Responsibilities Market Sector Directors (MSD) are part of HDR's matrix management that drive our business. The HDR Highway & Roads (H&R) sector is the largest, representing nearly $1B in annual revenue globally. It includes clients owning highways, toll roads, city, town, and local roads, and bridge structures. The primary services include: bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services. An understanding of clients, funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures is essential. The responsibilities are divided into: Market leadership and business development (about 70%) Staff development (20%) Support to Operations (10%) The Director sets the vision for HDR’s growth in this sector, supports strategic initiatives, develops staff, and maintains communication with leadership to implement growth plans. The role involves client management, business development, strategic planning, and engagement in industry associations. Responsibilities include: Creating and implementing strategic vision for the sector Serving as a client manager for key clients Leading selected projects as Principal-In-Charge Promoting HDR services and participating in industry leadership roles Driving market share growth and strategic partnerships Staff Development Managing P&L and staffing plans Driving technical excellence and supporting recruitment Support to Operations Monitoring performance indicators Supporting project delivery, risk management, and quality assurance Qualifications Preferred: 20+ years in highway/bridge planning or engineering, PE license, leadership in industry associations. Required: Bachelor's in Engineering, 12+ years industry experience, strong communication and business skills, active participation in employee-owned culture.
